Terre del Mincio Event Promotes Culture, Nature, and Tourism Activities
The Terre del Mincio presents itself with ten days of activities across the municipalities of Peschiera, Goito, Mantova, Monzambano, Ponti sul Mincio, Porto Mantovano, Rodrigo, Valeggio sul Mincio, and Volta Mantovana. The initiative, showcased at the historic Palazzina, is promoted not only by the involved municipalities but also by the Turismo Promotion Agencies of Mantova and the Riviera degli Olivi del Garda, along with numerous local Pro loco associations and the Mincio Park. “The goal of this event,” explains Marco Zaninelli, president of the Garda Tourism Promotion Agency, “is to discover the enchanting lands surrounding the Mincio, which has always been a unifying element of the territory. From Friday, June 22 to Sunday, July 1, there will be a continuous series of diverse events, ranging from sports to history, gastronomy, and entertainment, designed to cater to visitors’ interests. For example, visitors can explore natural oases along the Mincio, visit farms producing the renowned wines, participate in excursions and canoe trips, as well as guided bus tours through towns between Peschiera and Mantova that are touched by the Mincio river.”
Events and activities scheduled
Marco Beduschi, president of the Mincio Park, emphasized the social importance that the event aims to convey.
Within the framework of Terre del Mincio, the program organized from Peschiera is particularly rich. The first event takes place on Saturday, June 23, at 9:00 a.m., with the start of the grand cycling event stretching to Mantova, featuring a special testimonial, mountain-bike champion Paola Pezzo.
Starting the evening before, and according to a schedule repeated on the weekdays of the event, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors can embark every 40 minutes on a water tour of the city walls or participate in the “Up and Down the Mincio” itinerary, from Peschiera center to La Scarpina, always by boat. Guided tours of Forte Ardietti, a historical exhibition, tastings of local products, and Lugana DOC wine will also be organized.
On Sunday the 24th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in addition to the already mentioned activities, visitors can participate in “Try Yourself,” with experts from the rowing society available for curious visitors at Mandracchio on the Bonomi lakeside promenade.
For history enthusiasts, on Saturday the 29th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday the 30th starting at 4 p.m., there will be a reenactment of the siege by French troops, marking the bicentennial anniversary. Two scenes will be recreated: the Austro-Russian patrols in the town center and the camps of the besiegers; the siege and conquest of the fortress.
Forty actors in Austrian and Piedmontese uniform, sixty in French and Cisalpine dress, eight drummers and pipers, four cannons with crew and artillerymen will participate. An authentic tavern from the period will also be reconstructed.
The grand tour bus itineraries are scheduled for Tuesday, June 26, and Thursday, June 28, with the route: Peschiera, Ponti sul Mincio, Monzambano, Borghetto, Goito, Rivalta, Le Grazie, and Mantova. Stops will be made at the most picturesque locations to explore local gastronomy and traditions.
On Monday the 25th and Friday the 29th of June, the reverse route will be offered, departing from Mantova.
