The Vittoriale degli Italiani, located on the shores of the Lake Garda, is preparing to host a significant cultural event. On Saturday, September 20, and Sunday, September 21, 2025, the historic residence in Gardone Riviera will serve as the stage for a conference entirely dedicated to Ida Magli, one of the most original and influential figures in contemporary Italian thought. This initiative is part of the celebrations marking the centenary of the birth of the anthropologist, philosopher, and writer, known for her “countercurrent” perspective and her ability to anticipate social and cultural dynamics.

A Tribute to a Disruptive and Visionary Intellectual

The conference, titled “Tribute to Ida Magli,” aims to explore the intellectual legacy of a thinker who skillfully employed the tools of cultural anthropology to deeply analyze contemporary society and the human psyche. Her work, often characterized by sharp and prophetic analyses of the future, earned her the prestigious Premio del Vittoriale in 2015. Magli’s connection to the Vittoriale is profound: she is buried here, within the Mausoleum, and she entrusted her invaluable personal archive to this institution.

Voices in Dialogue: The Legacy of Critical Thought

Throughout the two days, numerous scholars and cultural figures will take turns to delve into Ida Magli’s contributions. Among the expected participants are Barbara Palombelli and Giordano Bruno Guerri, who, along with other experts, will strive to honor the vast intellectual heritage left by the writer. The aim is to stimulate an open dialogue on Magli’s thought, whose work continues to “question, provoke, and illuminate” the cultural debate. This celebration represents a unique opportunity to rediscover and appreciate the work of a figure who marked an era with her insights and independence of thought.
