In anticipation of the opening of the Jubilee Year 2025, the Sanctuary of Montecastello in Tignale has been designated as one of five places of worship around Lake Garda that will hold the title of “Jubilee Churches.” The dioceses of Brescia and Verona have officially announced this decision, emphasizing the significance of these sanctuaries for the pilgrims who will participate in the celebrations of the twenty-fifth Universal Jubilee. The festivities are set to begin on December 24, 2025, with the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, followed by a year filled with religious events.
In addition to the Sanctuary of Montecastello, the other four sanctuaries included in the list are: the Basilica of Lonato del Garda, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Crown in Ferrara di Monte Baldo, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in San Felice del Benaco, and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Frassino in Peschiera del Garda. These locations will feature holy doors and will provide the faithful with the opportunity to receive the jubilee indulgence throughout the holy year, thereby enhancing the collective spirituality associated with this significant religious event.
