Tignale-Gargnano Tunnel Gets Green Light to Improve Traffic and Mobility

The Environment Ministry has approved the construction of a linking tunnel between Tignale and Gargnano, running parallel to ANAS-owned State Road 45bis. The project includes a second tunnel with one bore for each direction to improve traffic flow. The Province, led by President Emanuele Moraschini and delegated councillor Paolo Fontana, will provide logistical support for a roundabout at the SP38 junction in Tignale and is assessing sites for construction camps and stockpiling of excavated material. The initiative also includes a study on bicycle ferry boats as a possible alternative to the Salò–Limone cycle path.

A trilateral agreement between Regione Lombardia, Provincia and Navigazione Laghi has commissioned the study, with first data expected by the end of next month. The proposed plan envisions vessels equipped with racks to carry up to 150 bicycles, alongside a logistics analysis of the quays. Eight million euros from the Fondo dei Comuni di Confine have been allocated to the Province, in agreement with the municipalities and the Mountain Community.
