Three explosive devices have been discovered in the lake by a diver, prompting the Municipality of Tignale to issue an ordinance prohibiting navigation in the affected area. Ordinance No. 4, dated January 21, 2025, also establishes a ban on swimming, scuba diving, and fishing, as well as access to the land area in the “Pra dela Fam” location, where operations for locating and neutralizing the devices will take place.
This discovery is not an isolated incident, as numerous explosive devices from World War I and World War II have been found in Lake Garda. Local authorities are currently determining the methods for remediation, ensuring that all necessary safety procedures are implemented to manage the situation appropriately.
