Tignale Truffle Fair Promotes Local Products and Gastronomy

Tignale. A weekend centered on flavor in Tignale. The Tignale Tourist Consortium is showcasing one of the most prestigious events of the season: the Truffle Market Fair.

Laura Barezzani, the president, announced the program, which includes an inauguration tomorrow, Saturday, October 6, with the collaboration of the Pro loco and the Garda Bresciano Truffle Growers Association. The event will be focused at the school auditorium in Gardola.

Schedule and Activities

The first focus has been dedicated to schools, with an informational program planned for 9 a.m. In the afternoon (4:30 p.m.), the market fair will open with guided tastings of some of the main truffle species found in the upper Garda, such as Tuber aestivum, Tuber uncinatum, and Tuber mesentericum.

This will be paired with other Benacus flavors and scents, such as Garda wines and organic oil produced locally in Tignale. The fair will also serve as an opportunity to view and – if desired – purchase local typical products.

The opening tomorrow will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. An intense day is also scheduled for Sunday, with the fair opening at 10 a.m. In the early afternoon (2:30 p.m.), a truffle hunting contest with a trained dog will take place.

Finally, at 5:30 p.m. in the Auditorium, there will be awards for the hunting contest and a tasting of truffle pennette. The fair’s hours on Sunday are from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It is worth noting that, in recent days, several local restaurants (Elisa, Gallo, La Miniera, Ai Tigli, Al Torchio, Zanzanù) are offering special menus featuring truffle.

Local Products and Territory Promotion

Truffles will be available for purchase at the Truffle Growers Association point of sale. For years, Tignale has been committed to promoting its territory through the offering of high-quality products, which provide a new, different opportunity or an additional motivation to visit the upper Garda, combining lake excursions or forest walks with something tasty and valuable.

The collection of truffles in the Tignale and Tremosine areas – but also in other municipalities where this flavorful product is found – is limited but excellent.

A similar discussion applies to specific, sought-after agricultural products, especially extra virgin olive oil produced solely from organically grown olives, with all necessary guarantees and controls. This initiative is, moreover, the only one of its kind in the upper Garda, and the number of olive growers supplying select, guaranteed olives—used to produce oil—is increasing.

Tignale offers a gastronomic proposal (and more), which some have compared to the steps taken in Valtenesi to promote rosé wine and coregone fish. And it has been successful.
