Tokyo 2025: Italian athletes at the World Athletics Championships
From **September 13 to 21, 2025**, Tokyo will host the **20th edition of the World Athletics Championships**, an event that promises to be extraordinary with **49 events** and **147 medals** up for grabs. More than **2,000 athletes** from approximately **200 nations** will participate in this international showcase, returning to the Japanese capital after the 2021 Olympics, which were held behind closed doors. The Italian team will present its largest delegation ever, consisting of **90 athletes**, including well-known names such as Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs and Yeman Crippa, the European half-marathon champion.
Among the Italian representatives are several athletes from Brescia, such as Francesco Pernici in the 800 meters and Gloria Hopper in the 4×100 relay. There are also promising young talents: Alice Mangione and Anna Polinari in the 400 meters, Alessandra Bonora in the 4×400 relays, as well as Elena Carraro in the 100 hurdles and Alexandrina Mihai in the 20 km race walk. The event will kick off with the **35 km race walk**, marking the start of a week filled with excitement and competition for athletics enthusiasts.
