Torbole Plans Nightlife Hub to Reduce Downtown Chaos and Boost Tourism

The idea exists and is good: creating a nighttime entertainment hub for youth at the extensive Conca d’Oro square. Perhaps hoping to succeed in that goal also to reduce the chaos downtown. The beach is in a splendid location and, above all, far enough from the inhabited areas to protect those who prefer peace over musical entertainment with a beer in hand.

The idea was launched by the Circolo Vela Torbole, which has been successfully managing the lakeside park for several years. With an entrepreneurial eye, it’s clear that the club saw the potential to significantly increase the activity at the outdoor refreshment point outside the nautical club. Until now, at the hour of sunset and when the sun goes down, all economic activity would also cease.

Support and controversies

The idea is also appreciated by the Municipality, the rightful owner. Overwhelmed by protests from all sides, the Municipality no longer knows which saint to pray to in order to restore peace for its residents and more peaceful visitors. For some years now (perhaps always), Torbole transforms into a chaos without restraint at the start of the summer heatwave. A phenomenon, after all, shared by all tourist locations frequented by young people seeking strong emotions.

On the other hand, if one looks for this type of tourism (which is actually “sports” tourism) through promotional campaigns, don’t expect to see everyone in bed by 11 pm. The last hurricane night, just between Saturday and Sunday, the town seemed to be overrun by a noisy crowd like never before. No one in town, until dawn, closed an eye.

It was simply a bit of a “party” for the attendees of the proclamation of the “King of the Lake,” a windsurfing event with major sponsorship. Therefore, the Municipality thinks (and confirms the same tourism councillor Martinelli) that it’s welcome to shift a little further south and out of town for the big night-time chaos.

Ideas for future entertainment

Of course, it doesn’t mean there will be a license to do whatever one wants there. On the contrary, the managers of the well-stocked refreshment stand and the beach have clear ideas about this. They want to offer intelligent entertainment: music (preferably live) and sports videos on a giant screen, and above all, much more space for everyone, including cars.
