The commemoration of the fallen in Toscolano Maderno is enriched by an important initiative in conjunction with the 96th National Gathering of the Alpini, which will take place in Biella from May 9 to 11, 2025. During the event, the Stone of Memory will be unveiled, a project honoring the fallen of World War I, which will also see the stones from Salò and Toscolano Maderno placed in the commemorative pavement at the monumental area “Nuraghe Chervu.” The ceremony will be attended by the Mayor of Salò, Francesco Cagnini, and the group leader, Paolo Rossati, while Toscolano Maderno will be represented by Deputy Mayor Vittoria Goi and the group leader of the Alpini Section, Alessandro Andreatta.
The act of presenting the Stone of Memory by the delegations from both communities symbolizes their commitment to preserving the local historical memory. Each engraved stone tells a story of sacrifice, symbolically uniting all Italian communities in a collective monument dedicated to those who gave their lives for the homeland. This event not only celebrates the past but also strengthens the bond between present and future generations in preserving the historical identity of their lands.
