Toscolano Maderno Summer 2001 Jazz and Music Festival Schedule
The musical events of summer 2001, organized by the Comune di Toscolano Maderno with artistic director Brunetto Lusenti, will begin on Saturday evening, July 7. Among the numerous events, the “7 Meetings with Jazz and Swing” will take center stage, held every Saturday starting at 9:30 PM, providing entertainment for both guests and residents at the former Maderno hippodrome. The highlight of the jazz festival will be the concert by the Romano Mussolini Orchestra, scheduled for Thursday, August 9. “The touristic vocation of our town,” stated tourism assessor Fabio Cauzzi during the presentation of the Toscolano-Maderno summer program, “has been overlooked for too long.” Next Saturday, the festival will open with the “Sunny Swing Quintet,” featuring Stefano Caniato on piano; Gianni Alberti, clarinet, alto saxophone, and tenor saxophone; Franco Capiluppi, trumpet; Mauro Sereno, double bass; Sergio Mazzei, drums.
Concert Schedule
On July 14, Peppino Principe and his accordion will take the stage, accompanied by Lino Franceschetti on piano, Mauro Sereno on double bass, and Sergio Mazzei on drums. The “Mantua Studio Band” will offer a musical repertoire “from Sinatra to Buscaglione” on Saturday, July 21. On August 10, following the performance with Romano Mussolini, it will be the turn of “Brunetto and the Brixia Jazz Orchestra” presenting “a great concert where Opera meets Jazz”. This will be followed by the “Italian Graffiti Quartet” (August 18), the “Swinging Partners” (August 25), and “Fabrizio Bosso Quartet” (September 1).
It is also worth noting that the Toscolano Maderno music scene will include prominent events such as the 7th edition of “Rockerellando”, from July 25 to 29 at 9:00 PM at the skating rink—a series of live concerts featuring rock, jazz funk, Afro, and blues. From August 2 to 5, again at the former hippodrome, “Grand Latin Festival” will take place, while on August 16, the “accordinsettima” will present “Story of a Troubadour”, a tribute concert to Fabrizio De André.
