Town Celebrates Christmas with Markets, Medieval Reenactments, and Music
This year as well, the merchants’ association, in collaboration with the municipal administration, the Pro loco, and many other associations, is organizing the event «Vetrine in piazza» for tomorrow, Sunday, but a long series of initiatives will continue until January 6. “We want to animate the historic center”, declares Marileno Brentegani, president of the Pro loco, “with the presence (from morning to evening) of stalls in the square and along the main streets, creating a special setting for choosing Christmas gifts as well as tasting typical products, in the hope that the square will become, at least for a while, a gathering point again.”
Christmas events and cultural initiatives
A plunge into the Middle Ages will be provided on the 10th by the Fair of Ancient Arts and Crafts with the company of the Sipario Medievale, which will showcase how candles, parchments, pottery, baskets were produced, how wool was worked, and how the blacksmith struck the iron. On the same day, there will be a reenactment of the living nativity scene. Additionally, Santa Lucia will be celebrated at 6 PM on the 12th, when the anticipation of the little ones will be sweetened with candies and sweets, and there will be a puppet show for them. On the 23rd, the sixth edition of the Nativity Scene of craftsmanship will open, running until January 7.
Music events and shows
As always, many musical events will start with Musical Aperitifs: on the 8th (“French chanson from Satie to Piaf”) and on the 17th (“Pictures at an Exhibition” by Moussorgsky at 5:30 PM at palazzo Guarienti). Then, on the 26th at 4 PM, the Valeggio Chorus will hold a Christmas Concert at the elementary schools.
