Traffic accident in Calcinato: minor identified on the run

A serious road accident recently occurred on a bypass of the Statale 11, between Calcinato and Bedizzole. The incident involved a vehicle that lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and then collided head-on with another car. The Local Police of Calcinato were called to intervene and initiated a complex investigation that lasted over 48 hours. Dynamics of the Accident According to the reconstruction by the officers, the accident occurred when a car veered into the opposite lane, striking another vehicle that was proceeding normally head-on. The impact was so severe that it caused injuries to the driver of the affected car. Despite the serious consequences of the incident, the responsible driver fled the scene without offering assistance. Investigation Activities The testimony of a bystander who remained at the scene proved crucial for the initiation of the investigation, although it was not possible to obtain the license plate number of the fleeing vehicle. Thanks to footage from the surveillance system in the area and data collected by the officers at the accident site, they were able to trace the license plate of the vehicle involved. However, investigators encountered a complication: the car had been recently sold, and the ownership transfer had not yet been recorded in the public vehicle registries. This led to a series of thorough checks conducted overnight by the Local Police of Calcinato in collaboration with the Brescia police. Identification of the Responsible Party The investigation required considerable time and effort; officers inspected various addresses linked to previous ownership of the vehicle and encampments. Additionally, thanks to information provided by relatives of the alleged driver to other judicial police authorities, investigators were able to identify the individual responsible for the accident: it turned out to be a minor. The vehicle involved in the accident was located and seized. The young driver will be reported to the Juvenile Court for the offenses of fleeing the scene and failing to provide assistance, as well as facing several administrative violations. Final Reflections of Local Authorities The Local Police Command emphasized how this operation demonstrates the importance of the officers’ determination and the effectiveness of surveillance networks in the area.
