A serious road accident occurred yesterday afternoon, Thursday, May 29, in Volta Mantovana, when around 1:30 PM a violent collision involved three vehicles along provincial road 19. The alert was triggered immediately, and emergency medical personnel from 118 arrived at the scene, supported by a helicopter rescue team that took off from Verona, along with firefighters and officers from the Mantova Traffic Police to assist the injured and reconstruct the events.
Among those involved in the accident was an 88-year-old man who suffered a severe chest trauma after his car went off the road and into a ditch; he required urgent intervention via helicopter rescue and was transported to Borgo Trento Hospital in Verona in critical condition. Two women, aged 32 and 40, were also taken to Mantova Hospital in serious condition due to pelvic injuries. The driver of the third vehicle, a 51-year-old man, emerged from the incident virtually unscathed.
