Arco: Illness during pregnancy claims the life of a young mother, aged 39. The community of Trentino’s Lake Garda has been struck by tragic news: Zoe Anne Guaiti, a 39-year-old woman residing in Bolognano di Arco, passed away at the Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento due to severe complications related to her pregnancy, which was expected in August. At six months pregnant, she experienced a sudden illness over the weekend, displaying symptoms akin to a severe flu and a high fever exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Emergency responders promptly arranged for her urgent helicopter transport to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with sepsis that resulted in the loss of the fetus.
Following the induction of labor, Zoe’s condition rapidly deteriorated, culminating in a fatal hemorrhage. The hospital expressed deep condolences for the loss of the young mother and has offered support to the family during this difficult time. An investigation has been initiated to clarify the circumstances surrounding her death, with a hypothesis of acute septic shock that did not respond to medical and resuscitative treatments. Zoe had worked as a bookseller between Rovereto and Riva del Garda and was the mother of two young children; she is also survived by her husband, parents, and three siblings.
