A tragic incident during swimming has led to the death of a 53-year-old German tourist in Manerba, on the Brescia side of Lake Garda, during the first summer weekend. The incident occurred today, June 2, around 2:00 PM, at Baia Bianca beach, near Dusano. The man had entered the water to cool off when he suddenly fell ill.
Rescue efforts were immediate, with 118 personnel transporting the tourist to the beach in an attempt to perform resuscitation using a defibrillator. Unfortunately, their efforts proved futile despite the prompt intervention of medical staff and the arrival of the air ambulance. Also present at the scene were the Garda Volunteers and a naval unit from the Salò Coast Guard, along with local police officers from Manerba.
