A tragedy struck the community of Padenghe on July 12, when Musiliu Sunmola, known as Tony, drowned in the local harbor. The 59-year-old worker, a father of three and employed for decades at West Garda, fell into the water and did not resurface. The news of his disappearance has evoked deep sorrow both in Padenghe and in Nuvolento, where he lived. To honor his memory, poet Yuleisy Cruz Lezcano has dedicated a poem that explores the pain of loss and the importance of remembrance.
In her work, Cruz Lezcano vividly describes the silence of the water and the heavy absence of those who are no longer present. Through intense verses, the author aims to raise awareness of the humanity behind every workplace tragedy and to highlight the value of the lives of those who work under difficult conditions. The poem concludes with a reflection on the fragility of human existence, suspended between work and silence, paying tribute to Musiliu Sunmola as a shadow that continues to live in the hearts of his loved ones.
