Regione Lombardia has announced the introduction of a digital single ticket by 2028, a significant step towards improving transportation in Lombardy. During a conference dedicated to the challenges and opportunities in the mobility sector, the regional transport assessor, Franco Lucente, explained how this new system will allow passengers to travel on all public transport with a single ticket, paying only for the distance traveled through a dedicated app. This initiative is part of a broader reform of Regional Law 6/2012, aimed at creating an integrated transportation system and promoting synergistic management among operators.
Additionally, Trenord plans to introduce 214 new trains on railway lines by 2025, with 189 already in service. Currently, over 780,000 passengers use Trenord each day, contributing to approximately 4.4 million daily travelers across road and rail in the region. Lucente emphasized that the implementation of digital ticketing will represent a true revolution in enhancing the travel experience and optimizing the services offered to users.
