Tremosine Library Hosts Historic Organ Music from Venice Era
The Municipal Library of Tremosine, chaired by Marcello Cobelli, continues its cultural offerings related to the classical music world.
In this occasion, it is assisted by the Parish of Vesio, staging “The Historic Organs of Lombardy” at 8:30 PM on Sunday in the Church of San Bartolomeo, Vesio.
This event is part of the program of the Lombardy Europe Music Festival, organized by the Region, which includes a concert.
The curiosity—for enthusiasts of the field—lies in the fact that the musical program will rely on the use of an organ from 1768.
The same compositions presented represent “a survey of organ music in Venice from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century”.
Works by some of the major musical figures of the period will be performed: Giovanni Picchi (“Todesca” and “Ballo ditto il Pichi”), as well as Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli and Francesco Cavalli, who will be featured with the “Canzona a quattro”.
Enthusiasts will also hear pieces by Albinoni (Concerto No. 5, Op. 2), Giorgio Gentili (Concerto 5, Op. 1), and Vivaldi (Concerto No. 9, Op. 3, in transcription by Johann Sebastian Bach).
The program will be completed with a Benedetto Marcello Sonata.
The organ master Francesco Bravo
At the organ will be Francesco Bravo, a thirty-five-year-old from Treviso, who graduated with top marks in organ, organ composition, and harpsichord from Venice and Castelfranco Veneto.
Francesco Bravo is Honorary Inspector of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and actively works on the restoration of historic organs.
He is a member of the Commission for the Protection of Historic Organs at the Superintendence for Environmental and Architectural Heritage of Milan.
Admission is free. For information, call 031/571150.
