Trenord increases train delay compensation: from 10% to 30%, new request methods

The Lombardy Region has approved a resolution that increases the compensation for Trenord train delays from 10% to 30%. This measure is intended for passengers with monthly or annual subscriptions and will come into effect from April 1st. Additionally, the procedures for requesting a refund will also change.

This decision was made in response to the transition from the old “bonus” to the refund mode established by the Transport Regulation Authority (ART). With this resolution, the Region aligns the compensation percentage with what was previously provided by the old bonus for monthly subscriptions (30%), extending the same percentage to annual subscriptions (previously at 10%).

The compensation, as determined by the Transport Regulation Authority, is calculated based on cancelled trips and those that have accumulated delays of more than 15 minutes. It is granted to subscribers when the sum of these trips represents at least 10% of the scheduled trains. Unlike the previous bonus, the request for compensation must be made directly by the subscriber, in order to direct the refund to those who have actually experienced inconvenience.

The approval of the resolution by the end of March allows users to receive a 30% compensation starting from January 2024, in continuity with the last bonus provided by the old contract. Users will have one year to request the compensation.

To request the compensation, users can use various methods: fill out an online form on the Trenord website, go to Trenord ticket offices and My-Link Points, or send an email or registered mail to the Trenord refund office. The refund will be issued via bank transfer or voucher.

In the coming days, all the necessary information to request the compensation will be available on the Trenord website.
