The 8th Sprint Triathlon City of Salò saw the triumph of Trentino athlete Michele Bortolamedi (K3 Cremona) in a competition held on Sunday, May 25, which recorded a participation record of 616 entrants. With a time of 53’31”, Bortolamedi broke the previous record set by Federico Murero last year, crossing the finish line solo after dominating the swimming segment and maintaining his lead during the cycling portion. On the men’s podium, Giovanni Aruffo (Leosport) secured second place with a time of 53’47”, while Murero finished third with 54’51”. Among the women, Tania Molinari (Piacenza Triathlon Vittorino) was the first to cross the finish line in 1h01’09”, narrowly beating Anna Adelaide Badini Confalonieri in a sprint finish.
The race also featured the awarding of the new Cup of the Climbers, dedicated to the best climbers of the cycling segment. The trophy was won by Austrian Thomas Steger (Tri Austria) in the men’s category and by young Iris Reif (Millennium Triathlon) in the women’s category. The event took place under a clear sky after days of bad weather, with the organizational team from the Società Canottieri Garda involving over 140 volunteers to ensure the success of the event. The presence of Mayor Francesco Cagnini and FITRI Lombardia President Barbara Molina at the awards ceremony further highlighted the significance of the event in the local sports scene.
