On Thursday, November 7, the audience in Riva del Garda will have the opportunity to attend the screening of two films that participated in the Venice International Critics’ Week: “Nero Argento” and “Little Jaffna.” These titles represent a significant selection within the film series “The Pleasure of Cinema.”

The screening will take place in the cinema hall of the Alto Garda and Ledro Community, located on Via Rosmini, starting at 9 PM. Admission is open to all, with tickets priced at 7 euros for the full price and 5 euros for reduced tickets, available to those over 65, minors under 14, and students up to 25 years old. The box office will open half an hour before the screenings begin.

Film Details

Nero Argento

Directed by Francesco Manzato, “Nero Argento” is a 20-minute Italian short film. The story revolves around a group of graffiti artist friends – Lucas, Letizia, Giovanni, and Federico – who find refuge in a secret spot nestled in the woods near the train tracks. Despite their friendship and connection to this safe space, Lucas senses a disturbing presence in the forest that seems to elude the awareness of his companions.

Little Jaffna

In contrast to the previous short, “Little Jaffna,” directed by Lawrence Valin, is a 100-minute French feature film. Set in the Parisian neighborhood of the same name, renowned for its vibrant Tamil community, it follows the story of Michael, a young police officer tasked with infiltrating a criminal organization involved in extortion and money laundering on behalf of Sri Lankan rebels. The plot unfolds around the moral challenges he faces as he navigates the complexities of the criminal organization.

Event Organization

The film series is promoted by the Alto Garda and Ledro Valley Community in collaboration with neighboring municipalities such as Arco, Drena, Ledro, Nago-Torbole, and Tenno. The artistic direction is managed by the Trentino Theatre Coordination.

For those seeking more information on how to get there or about future film events in the area, useful details are available through the official channels dedicated to local events.
