Ultralight Crashes in Polpenazze, Pilot Guido Barbi Killed
An ultralight aircraft crashed near Polpenazze del Garda shortly after 3:00 PM today, near Via Sant’Antonio Abate, in the vineyards and olive groves, killing the sole occupant: 74-year-old Guido Barbi from Brescia, an experienced sport pilot.
Firefighters from the Salò district, the 118 emergency medical service, the Carabinieri of Salò, and an air ambulance responded to the scene. Barbi was recovered from the wreckage and pronounced dead by a attending doctor. The aircraft is a Eurostar EV97; authorities are conducting investigations to reconstruct the crash dynamics. Barbi was a known figure in sport flying and previously part of the Eurostar aerobatic team.
