Valeggio sul Mincio is experiencing a moment of great enthusiasm and participation as it prepares its candidacy for Capital of Culture in 2028. The local administration has intensified efforts to engage the community by organizing meetings and working groups with institutions, associations, and businesses to create a solid and shared cultural project. Mayor Alessandro Gardoni emphasized that the preliminary data is encouraging, with 328 citizens already active in the online survey, while over thirty associations have responded positively to the municipality’s invitation.
To support this initiative, a group of experienced tutors has been established, and a promotional committee is being formed with significant figures from the cultural and academic sectors. A public meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 3, at 8:30 PM in the Red Hall of Palazzo Guarienti, where the administration will present the reasons for the candidacy and the significance of this project for the local community. The ultimate goal is to draft a dossier that expresses the identity of Valeggio and lays the foundation for a lasting cultural legacy.
