Valeggio sul Mincio Approves 2026 TARI Plan With No Rate Increases, Boosts Tourism Funding

The municipal council of Valeggio sul Mincio has approved the 2026 TARI waste tax plan, setting no increases for residents. The measure passed with the majority’s approval and the minority abstaining, using revenues including the tourist stay tax (imposta di soggiorno) and other funding sources to offset costs. While the total could reach 2,881,133 euros under the ARERA maximum—up to 6.8%—the amount charged to citizens was reduced through coverage measures.

The plan lowers the actual funding requirement to 2,703,895 euros via three main items: 120,000 euros from the destination of the tourist stay tax, 42,946 euros recovered from unpaid taxes, and 14,292 euros from a state contribution for schools. Mayor Alessandro Gardoni confirmed that tourism proceeds will support the waste service, while Environment Councillor Simone Mazzafelli linked the approach to higher tourist flows; from 2026, the waste social bonus will be applied automatically on utility bills for eligible households based on ISEE. The TARI deadlines for 2026 are 15 September and 15 December, and the city’s separate waste collection rate stands at 73%.
