Valtenesi and Polpenazze Launch Key Sports and Wine Events This Summer
Valtenesi and Polpenazze are preparing to experience, starting with the first initiatives of these days, an endless series of events ranging from sports to enogastronomy.
Historical events and new initiatives
In fact, this is a situation that has been experienced in Polpenazze for several years, ever since the glorious “Festa del vino” began 51 years ago. Over the years, however, other events have materialized, including daytime and nighttime football tournaments played through the town’s sporting streets.
And it is precisely the Polpenazze Night Tournament that has emerged, thanks to the strength of volunteering, managing to create over the years a true sports city.
Since last year, between the two aforementioned events—which will of course be repeated this year—a new addition has been made: the “Valtenesi International Youth Football Tournament”. This tournament will largely take place on the “large field” of Polpenazze, with 11 players per team.
The 51st Edition of the Wine Fair
The first event is scheduled for the 51st edition of the “Doc Wine Fair”, running until May 29.
A tradition that features the presence of numerous wineries from Valtenesi and, above all, the participation of thousands and thousands of people.
It goes without saying that rivers of wine will be poured, sorry, consumed, during these “4 days of Polpenazze”.
The International Youth Tournament
After a few days, the focus shifts to football. From June 9 to 11, the second edition of the “International Youth Tournament” will take place, organized by the Valtenesi Sports Association and the Gruppo Felter Sport, in collaboration with “Euro Sporting”, affiliated with Fifa.
Five categories will be involved, with athletes aged between 10 and 19 years. In addition to the sporting fields of the Polpenazze Sports Center, tournaments will also be held on green pitches in Manerba, Moniga, and Padenghe.
Over 100 matches will be played across the two days of competition: Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11.
44 teams will participate, almost a mini European Championship, with 30 foreign teams from all over Europe, involving approximately 800 professionals. These participants will be hosted in campgrounds, residences, and hotels in the area.
The Night Tournament and Other Events
A few more days of coordination and then the 22nd edition of the Polpenazze Night Tournament will take place, organized by the Polpenazze Sports Union. It will run from June 17 to July 29.
This is a highly anticipated event for its sporting, competitive, and culinary appeal, which typically draws, over the course of 19 match days, playoffs, and recovery games, no fewer than forty thousand people, including players, spectators, and food tasters.
Many returning teams and new participants will be present at the start, including a benevolent match featuring Sister Paola and her team alongside some key figures from “Quelli che… il calcio”.
