Valtenesi – The Valtenesi Aqueduct will receive a contribution of 28 million euros for the first phase of works, which involves enhancing the lake intake in the Pisenze area of Manerba. This funding is part of a comprehensive national plan to address water scarcity.
The Commissioner for the adoption of urgent measures related to water scarcity has included the first phase of the Valtenesi Aqueduct among the projects eligible for funding. The contribution, which is yet to be confirmed through an implementing decree, amounts to over 28 million euros.
This funding is an integral part of a larger plan that covers the entire national territory. Acque Bresciane SB is the only operator in the province mentioned in the Commissioner’s report, presented during the second coordination meeting last March. On this occasion, priority projects were defined and critical aspects of water supply in Italy and ongoing climate changes were analyzed in detail.
The intervention for the construction of the Valtenesi Aqueduct is considered strategic due to the increasingly frequent periods of drought and aims to improve and optimize the water supply and quality distributed to the municipalities of Valtenesi and the neighboring areas of upper Lake Garda, such as the districts of Villa and Cunettone in Salò, San Felice del Benaco, Puegnago del Garda, Polpenazze del Garda, Manerba del Garda, Soiano del Lago, Moniga del Garda, Padenghe sul Garda, and Calvagese della Riviera.
The first phase of the works involves enhancing the lake intake in the Pisenze area of Manerba del Garda (1st section), constructing the conveyance pipelines from the lake intake to San Felice del Benaco (2nd section) with the decommissioning of the current lake intake and simultaneous construction of the water treatment plant in the municipal territory of Manerba del Garda (3rd section), as well as other ancillary works.
Throughout Italy, 127 priority projects have been identified, with a total value of 3.67 billion euros out of a total of 562 requests submitted by operators and reclamation consortia.
