Valtenesi Carnival Wins with Creative Floats and Local Traditions

With “The Year of the Dragon”, the hamlet of Pieve di Manerba won the 17th edition of the Manerba Carnival, the first edition of the Valtenesi Carnival, with 182 points.

In second place, with 180 points, was “Legoland” presented by Moniga del Garda;

third position went to “Halloween” proposed by friends from Perlino di Solarolo.

Curiosities and Eliminations

A notable curiosity for this edition was the disqualification of a participating float, that of Crociale di Malerba “Baco, God of Valtenesi”.

The disqualification was due to the fact that this float, given its enormous size, could not parade along the entire planned route like the others, which led to protests and its subsequent elimination.

Results and News of the Carnival

This new version of the Valtenesi Carnival was a success, thanks in part to the new route, which allowed float creators to indulge their creative fantasies without the need to navigate the narrow streets of the historic center.

Additionally, there was a new element of entertainment along the streets of the historic center, and most notably, the opportunity to sample local products, alongside new ingredients such as Maöl, Groppello, and the carnival’s king, Pestüm, and Chisöl.

The winner also received the V° Trofeo Pro Loco di Malerba and the First Memorial Trophy of Clemente Somensini, offered by Gardaffare.

Everything proceeded smoothly, and the idea of secret ballot voting proved to be effective, which, while creating extra work for the highly efficient secretary, Clara Merici, largely eliminated common disputes and protests.

Participation and Final Evening

Both Pro Loco President Pierino Santagiuliana and the municipal administration, led by Isidoro Bertini, were satisfied with the results of the festivities they organized.

On last Saturday afternoon, over 100 children aged between 0 and 14 participated in a lively parade competing for the Silver Mask.

Finally, on Sunday evening, nearly 500 people gathered at the Palazzetto dello Sport for the “Grand Carnival Feast”, which featured spit-roasted meat with polenta and other traditional Brescia culinary specialties, accompanied by music from the Brunetto trio.
