Salò has recently witnessed acts of vandalism at the nativity scene set up by the firefighters along the Zanardelli lakeside, an event that has sparked outrage among community members. During the Christmas holidays, the nativity scene, crafted with dedication and an investment of over 1,500 euros by the firefighters, fell victim to destructive actions by ill-mannered youths. Among the reported damages are torn window handles, a broken rear ladder, and the insertion of a firecracker into the hay of the grotto, creating potential hazards.
The Facebook page “Friends of the Salò Firefighters – ODV” has denounced these incidents, which have been recurring since 2016, the year the truck with the nativity scene was created. Despite the challenges and thefts of significant items such as electrical panels and figurines, the firefighters remain determined to keep this Christmas tradition alive, urging those who commit such acts to reflect on the importance of positively contributing to the community rather than destroying what symbolizes peace and love.
