Vela Club Campione Leads International Training for 49er Garda Team in Campione
The 49er Garda Team project, supported by Vela Club Campione since 2025, aims to transition sailors from the 29er class to Olympic categories 49erFX and 49er. Based in Campione and led by coach Giovanni Bonzio, the program has trained four crews, achieving notable results in 2025, including top finishes at European and World Junior Championships and success in open series events.
In 2026, Vela Club Campione will lead the initiative, expanding international training partnerships with Circolo Vela Gargnano, Fraglia Vela D’Annunzio, and new support from It’s Store. The ITA 434 crew, Alessio and Walter Bonizzoni, will continue their progression towards Olympic classes with upcoming international regattas scheduled in Palma de Mallorca and at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia, alongside European and World Junior Championships.
