Veneto Road Project: New Route Construction Nears Completion
The construction of the alternative route to the statale 11 may finally be nearing completion: in recent days, a meeting was held at the Arlìse town hall, convened by Umberto Chincarini, the mayor. Attendees included his colleagues from Sirmione and Pozzolengo, along with technicians from Regione Veneto, Anas, and provincial public works assessor Gilberto Pozzani.
The meeting followed a previous working group held in Sirmione about a month ago: during that session, representatives from the involved entities and those affected by local road issues agreed to meet monthly, creating a continuous push for the competent authorities to accelerate the process of constructing the new route.
The first significant result is the direct involvement of the Province, which in Peschiera agreed to “coordinate the upcoming phases that will lead to the new route. This is the first time the Province has stepped into this stage of the planning,” declared assessor Pozzani. “Moreover, we deemed it essential to respond to the requests from the Municipalities in this area, which are heavily influenced by traffic concerns.”
Agreements and next steps for the new road
Another important agreement was reached during the meeting: all attendees signed a document outlining the conditions for the construction of the main interchanges of the new road. The designer, who will be appointed by Regione Veneto, must consider these conditions.
“The completion of the graphic design,” clarified assessor Pozzani, “is the first and essential step towards securing the necessary funding for the project; however, the initial design raised several objections from local administrators, which will be addressed in the new iteration.”
Everything should now be in place for the preparation of the definitive project for the alternative route to statale 11. From Peschiera, guidelines were also issued regarding the design of two critical interchanges for Rovizza and Forte Laghetto and Porto Vecchio. Additionally, interventions were identified to create a parking area for users of the bike path running along the Mincio.
