Verona Hosts National Maître Finals as Ruta Awards Trophy for Excellence
An exceptional sponsor, Maria Teresa Ruta, for an event that has now established strong roots in the Verona area: for the third consecutive year, the restaurant-hotel «Al fiore» in Peschiera will host today the national finals of the «Maître of the Year» competition organized by Amira, the Italian Association of restaurant and hotel maître, which counts approximately three thousand members across Italy.
Event Details
Six maître, winners of regional selections held throughout Italy involving a total of 180 industry professionals, are in Lake Garda to compete for the trophy created by sculptor Isaac Kahn. The trophy will be awarded to the winner by Ruta, and this year it is dedicated to the memory of Maria Luisa Speri, wife of the owner of the «Al Fiore» restaurant, Raffaello Speri. She is the only woman admitted to the prestigious «Great Masters of the Amira Restauration» society, an honor bestowed on those with an outstanding track record of excellence and capability.
This event aims to highlight the professionalism and the significance of the maître’s role within the national hospitality industry. The finalists will be asked to prepare a «lampside» dish in front of a qualified jury, which will evaluate execution skills, presentation, ingredients, and food-wine pairing.
Challenges and Jury
Leading the final’s main challenges scheduled for this morning starting at 9:45 a.m., are three types of white meats: chicken, rabbit, and turkey.
