Verona’s Costantini to Lead Alta Lago Hospital Renovation Phase One
Upcoming works for the first phase of renovation and reorganization of the hospital of the Alta Lago. The company Costantini of Verona will carry out work on Pavilion B, which houses the orthopedics department. The projects include on the ground floor the renovation of the entrance, the bar, and the electrical substation.
On the first and second floors, there will be a renovation of the central ward area, and in the attic, the changing rooms will be arranged, along with the reconstruction of the staircase. Other interventions will concern part of the original core of the hospital structure, namely the villa, and will involve construction work, electrical installations, and heating and sanitation systems.
Details of the work and funding
On the ground floor, a connecting gallery will be created between the villa and the central part of the hospital. The total cost of the works, financed by Regione Veneto, amounts to 3 billion 150 million euros. The Executive Board of Palazzo Balbi has allocated an additional 2 billion 550 million euros, again using funds provided by former Article 20 of Law No. 67/88, to enable the future second phase of the works.
However, the implementation timelines for this phase are still far off, considering that currently, there is only the preliminary project developed by the technical office of Azienda Sanitaria Ulss 22 of Bussolengo. The project now needs to be converted into an executive plan and submitted to Venice for approval by the regional technical committee.
Second phase of works
The second phase involves completing the villa where the wards and the emergency room are located. Additionally, work will be carried out on radiology and outpatient clinics on the second floor of the east wing. Lastly, but not least, the operating rooms will be upgraded to meet the latest safety standards.
«In total, the area to be renovated in the villa», explain the offices of the Ulss 22, «is 1,830 square meters, with 800 square meters on the second floor on the east side, and the expansion areas on the east side are 540 square meters».
Work on the electrical cabin and generator
While waiting for the major interventions, work related to the cabin and the generator, to be carried out by the company Eles of Verona, is ready to start. The total cost for these projects is 720 million euros. Part of the funding comes from a 400 million euro allocation from the regional health fund, with the remainder provided by Ulss 22.
