Villa Tretti, Iconic Lazise Residence, Changes Ownership After Century
The most beautiful and most photographed stately villa by millions of Italian and foreign tourists has changed hands; it has a new owner and has been acquired by a consortium of industrialists from Sandrà, including Giambattista Scaramellini, owner of the distillery and the agricultural company Co’De Fer.
Villa Tretti, the historic residence with the red tower, located on the Lungolago Marconi, a symbol of Lazise, after the Scaliger Castle and the Venetian Customs Office, after nearly a century of ownership by the Thienese family, now has new owners. It is certainly a «piece» of Lazise’s history that departs.
The story, which ends with the new millennium, is a long history of significant moments in the life of the town related to the twentieth century, the two world wars, which in part saw the villa with the three T’s protagonist in the events of the past century.
Symbols and Coat of Arms of the Tretti Family
The three T’s, dotted with seven stars, are the symbol of the Tretti family crest, prominently displayed by the white marble plaque that surmounts the main entrance of the house on via Alberello.
On either side of the heraldic shield are two inscriptions: on the right «Et Fide» and on the left of the shield itself «Et Amore».
