A significant traffic issue has impacted Valeggio sul Mincio due to the large influx of visitors to the Parco Giardino Sigurtà, which reopened on March 8. Long lines of vehicles have caused considerable disruptions, prompting Mayor Alessandro Gardoni to announce that the administration is working to find effective solutions in collaboration with local institutions and the park’s management. Gardoni emphasized the importance of managing visitor flows, suggesting limited entry to reduce the impact on traffic and the quality of life for residents.
In response to the critical situation, a consultancy has been commissioned to develop a traffic management plan aimed at improving traffic flow in the area. Additionally, the park’s management has proposed the construction of new parking facilities and ticket offices to the north of the site, an initiative that could enhance accessibility and road safety. The mayor has urged the park’s owners to actively collaborate with the administration to ensure the well-being of the local community during peak tourist seasons.
