Last week, an important training activity on jet skis took place for the Coast Guard in the waters of Lago di Garda, called “Coastal Rescue.” Nine military personnel from the Garda unit participated in this intensive program, coordinated by the training officer Commander C.F. (CP) Massimo Kothmeir from the Maritime Directorate of Genoa. The training lasted five days and included simulations of critical operational scenarios for rescue and surveillance operations, with a particular focus on navigation safety and beach activities.
During the exercise, the operational capabilities of the RESCUERUNNER (RR), a jet ski designed to operate in challenging conditions such as reefs and shallow waters, were tested without the need for a stretcher. The RR GC L26, which has been active for three years in the Coast Guard’s fleet on Lake Garda, has completed a total of 123 missions and provided assistance to 33 individuals. This training aims to enhance the human resources qualified to operate the jet skis, thereby ensuring greater efficiency in rescue operations as the summer season approaches.
