Wind Damage Shrinks Apple Harvest in Arco and Oltresarca

Some hailstones were even seen in Arco, but it was not this that damaged part of the apple harvest in the Basso Sarca countryside. If the CBS warehouse receives a lower quantity of Golden apples this year, the blame is instead on the very strong wind, which literally knocked out 3 to 20 percent of the product, states the head of the Riva Provincial Agriculture Office, Dr. Giovanni Bazzoli. The ripe fruits, due to the shaking, have fallen to the ground and, upon falling, have hit other fruits, causing noticeable dents and making them unusable for commercial purposes.

Damage to crops and fields

The greatest damage has been recorded in Arco and Oltresarca. In some fields, gusts of wind have even overturned sections of the vineyard rows.
