A14-year-old windsurfer, of German nationality, was rescued by the Coast Guard around 7:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, after drifting due to a malfunction. The alert was raised when the young boy lost both the sail and the mast of his equipment, finding himself nearly a kilometer from the shore of the municipality of Malcesine. Thanks to the prompt intervention of the GC A58 inflatable boat from the Salò Coast Guard and units from the Fire Brigade, the boy was located in under 40 minutes and brought back to the port, where his father was waiting.
In another incident that occurred on the same day, a young tourist injured her leg after colliding with the propeller of a rented boat in the waters off Toscolano Maderno. Again, the Coast Guard provided medical assistance, transporting the injured person in stable condition to Gavardo Hospital. Other interventions involved two boats in distress during a storm and a second vessel that broke down at dawn. The Coast Guard emphasized the importance of safety for water sports enthusiasts, suggesting precautions such as checking weather conditions and using communication devices.
