A tragic wingsuit accident has struck the Upper Garda region, where the lifeless body of a Russian base jumper, born in 1969, was discovered on Mount Brento this morning. Search operations had commenced the previous evening after the woman failed to return from a jump made around 10 AM. Her body was found in a rugged wooded area at an altitude of approximately 700 meters, well below the well-known jump point known as “Eagles exit.”
Initial investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by a malfunction or the failure of the parachute to open. The operations were coordinated by the Alpine Rescue Service, with involvement from the carabinieri and firefighters, who were active throughout the night in the search for the base jumper. After the coroner confirmed her death, the body was recovered by helicopter and transferred to the morgue in Dro.
