A marine tragedy unfolded this morning, Saturday the 12th, in Padenghe sul Garda, where a 59-year-old dockworker, Musiliu Sunmola, lost his life after falling into the water from a boat. The emergency call was received around 8:40 AM by the Coast Guard Operations Center, reporting that the man was in distress and had submerged in the harbor. Despite the immediate response from the relevant authorities, including the Coast Guard and divers from the Malpensa Fire Brigade, the initial search efforts were unsuccessful due to the murky water.
After just a few minutes of diving, the worker’s body was discovered on the bottom at a depth of about three meters and brought to the surface. Medical personnel from the 118 emergency services present at the scene could only confirm his death. The investigation to reconstruct the circumstances of the work incident has been entrusted to the personnel of the Coast Guard in Salò, while a local police patrol ensured the safety of the area. Musiliu Sunmola leaves behind three children and had been working at the West Garda marina for many years.
