Work is underway on the safety enhancement of the Salionze dam and the Mincio River, which began in November with an investment exceeding 20 million euros, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the Ministry of Infrastructure. These interventions aim to optimize the hydraulic regulation system for the waters of Lake Garda, managed by the Interregional Agency for the Po River (AIPo). The works include the replacement of the sluice gates at the dam, which are essential for ensuring the water security of the area.
The project has been coordinated in synergy with various regional institutions, including the Lombardy Region, the Veneto Region, and the Autonomous Province of Trento. A video documenting the operations has been shared by AIPO official Ilaria Ercolani with the Garda Community. With these infrastructure modernization projects, a significant improvement in the efficiency and safety of the dam is expected, which is crucial for managing water levels.
