Young Adapted Karting Star Pedro Cueto Secures Second Place at IAME Formula Series Italy in Lonato
11-year-old Pedro Cueto, an amputee and the only driver with a limb difference competing in karting, secured second place at the IAME Formula Series Italy from April 3-5. Demonstrating competitive parity with able-bodied drivers, Cueto uses a manual acceleration system and trains with CrossFit, continuing his racing calendar with upcoming events in Lonato, including the WSK Euro Series and Italian Karting Championship.
Diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma at age six, Cueto underwent multiple surgeries, including the removal of his right femur and prosthetic implantation. He chose to amputate his right leg in November 2024, returning to racing six weeks later. Born in Houston, raised in Mexico City, and now based in Arvada, Colorado, Cueto aims to compete throughout the season in various international and national karting series.
