The “Let’s Keep the Desenzano Hospital on Montecroce” Committee has raised strong concerns regarding the lack of institutional responses and transparency surrounding the healthcare project for the new city hospital. In a recent press release, the Committee highlighted that, following a meeting with Mayor Luisa Lavelli on May 19, there have been no concrete developments. Despite the mayor’s commitment to convene a meeting to discuss the decree related to the new hospital, the Committee reports a prolonged silence of over 45 days, lamenting that citizen participation appears to be limited to symbolic demonstrations.
Furthermore, the statement emphasizes that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Lombardy Region and other entities is scheduled for July 9, but without adequate public consultation. The Committee also criticizes the absence of a Planning Document that involves citizens and healthcare operators in the decision-making process. With the Community Hospital in Prevalle already closed due to staff shortages, the Committee representatives question the rationale behind building new facilities without the necessary human resources to manage them effectively.
