A wounded golden eagle was rescued on Saturday, the 18th, by a hiker along the trail leading to Monte Spino, in the Fobiola area. The bird of prey, visibly in distress with a broken wing, caught the attention of the passerby, who promptly alerted the Provincial Police. The officers intervened to secure the animal and subsequently transported it to the Wildlife Recovery Center (CRAS) in Valpredina, Cenate (Bergamo), where the fracture was confirmed.
Thanks to the swift intervention, the eagle will now have the opportunity to receive the necessary care and, after a rehabilitation period, will be able to return to the wild. The managers of the Pirlo Refuge expressed their gratitude for the support received during the recovery of the animal, nicknamed “Pigna” in honor of the cyclist who reported its presence. This incident highlights the importance of wildlife conservation and the protection of birds of prey in the surrounding area.
