Irregular immigration in Desenzano: arrests and expulsions on the rise
Desenzano del Garda: A 29-Year-Old Ghanaian National Arrested and Deported. The intense efforts of the Brescia Police Headquarters against irregular immigration and various forms of illegality in the province continue. In recent days, under the direction of Chief of Police Paolo Sartori, joint inspections have been intensified, yielding significant results in terms of expulsions and removals from the territory. In total, ten non-EU citizens with criminal records have been identified, including a 29-year-old Ghanaian man arrested in Desenzano for aggravated bodily harm and resisting a public official. The man, who had already been subject to a deportation order in 2022 that he did not comply with, has been detained at the “Corelli” CPR in Milan pending forced repatriation.
In addition to those with criminal records, another fifteen individuals without any criminal offenses have been issued voluntary departure orders and have seven days to leave Italy. If they fail to comply, procedures for forced expulsion will be initiated. Meanwhile, the Immigration Office has begun checks on residence permits that have already been issued or are in the process of being issued, leading to the revocation or denial of 215 permits for those who no longer meet the legal requirements; similarly, the recipients will have two weeks to leave the country before being considered illegal immigrants.
