Recent events have raised concerns regarding the nightlife around Lake Garda, with signs of a potential decline that could jeopardize the area’s tourist appeal. The situation became critical after the “Shibuya” nightclub in Bardolino, formerly known as “Hollywood,” received an order from the authorities to stop music at midnight, a measure deemed unsustainable for the operation of a nightlife venue. Other establishments along the Brescia shore, between Lonato and Desenzano, have also been temporarily closed due to public order issues.
The associations Confcommercio and Confesercenti have expressed strong concerns, emphasizing that excessive restrictions risk diminishing the lake’s attractiveness for young tourists. Barbara Quaresmini and Andrea Maggioni highlighted that a vibrant nightlife is essential for the economic and cultural fabric of the area. According to them, it is crucial to find a balance between adhering to regulations and supporting nightlife venues, as today’s young patrons represent the future customers of daytime businesses.
