In Lombardy, it will be possible to deposit the advance healthcare directive at healthcare facilities, a new initiative approved during the Regional Budget Session. The motion, signed by Paladini-Palestra and supported by the Luca Coscioni Association, allows citizens to express their wishes regarding medical treatments directly in hospitals and local health authorities (ASL), in addition to the current methods of depositing with municipalities or notaries. This measure aims to make the right to healthcare self-determination more accessible, while also ensuring adequate information for citizens.
Cristiana Zerosi, coordinator of the Luca Coscioni Association in Lombardy, emphasized the importance of this step in improving access to advance directives (DAT) and highlighted how information on biotesting is crucial to increasing the number of deposits. The Regional Council has allocated 100,000 euros to support the implementation and communication of the new procedures, with the goal of making the rights established by national legislation on advance healthcare directives more accessible.
