A nighttime misadventure befell two sixteen-year-olds on the night of August 7, when they decided to camp with a tent near the former Forte Naole, located on Monte Baldo. During the night, the boys felt a strong fear of being surrounded by wolves and, frightened, contacted the fire department for assistance. The operators immediately got in touch with the Chierego refuge, located just over four kilometers away, to assess the situation.
A vehicle was dispatched from the refuge to check on the condition of the two youths. Upon arrival, neither the rescuers nor the firefighters found any traces of wolves; it is possible that the fear was fueled by environmental noises or suggestions created by gusts of wind. The firefighters then escorted the boys to the station to ensure their safety and reassure them after the incident.
