Salò has announced an update to its tourist tax, a measure that follows recent resolutions adopted by other municipalities in the Lake Garda tourism area. After a long period without changes since 2018, the municipality has decided to adjust the rates for both hotel and non-hotel accommodations. Starting from January 1, 2026, tourists will pay €4.30 per night for stays in five-star hotels, €3 for four-star establishments, and reduced rates for other categories, marking a significant increase from current costs.
Mayor Francesco Cagnini emphasized the importance of this adjustment as a response to the city’s needs for tourism promotion and development. By engaging with local and national associations within the sector, the administration aims to ensure structural revenues necessary to support tourism-related expenses. It is expected that in 2025, the tax will generate approximately €400,000, bolstered by the opening of a new five-star hotel in the Versine area.
