Arco is preparing to pay tribute to one of its most illustrious figures, the aviation pioneer Giovanni Battista Caproni. On a day dedicated to his memory, the city by the upper Lake Garda will witness the return of his mortal remains, accompanied by a solemn commemoration and an institutional event focused on enhancing the Caproni Archive. These initiatives were announced following the family’s decision to relocate the remains of the Count of Taliedo to his homeland. The Relocation of the Remains and the Religious Ceremony At the request of the Caproni family, the mortal remains of Giovanni Battista Caproni, along with those of his wife Timina Guasti and their son Italo, will be transferred to the historic family tomb located in the Massone cemetery. This decision marks the definitive return of the renowned engineer to his native Arco. On this occasion, a commemorative Mass will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 5:30 PM at the Collegiate Church. The service will be officiated by the parish priest, Don Francesco Scarin. The presence of his daughter, Vittoria Caproni Meazzini Boccadoro, along with grandchildren and other relatives, has been confirmed. The mayor of Arco, Attorney Arianna Fiorio, has extended an invitation to the community to participate in the ceremony. Enhancing the Caproni Archive: The Conference at Palazzo dei Panni Before the religious celebration, at 4:00 PM on the same day, the halls of Palazzo dei Panni will host a press conference open to the public.
