Rescue Dogs and Water Safety in Salò
Last Saturday, an important water rescue exercise took place in the Gulf of Salò, organized by the Italian School of Rescue Dogs (SICS). In collaboration with the Coast Guard, two canine units composed of Labradors and their handlers simulated rescue operations to test their teamwork and emergency protocols. This event attracted the attention of the public along the lakeside, providing an engaging spectacle that highlighted the extraordinary abilities of rescue dogs in ensuring water safety. The SICS is recognized as the largest organization in the world dedicated to training water rescue dogs and operates as a non-profit volunteer association. With over 300 canine units deployed across the country, these specialized dogs not only respond to critical situations but also contribute to beach safety projects in various Italian locations. Thanks to their sociable nature and excellent swimming skills, breeds such as the Newfoundland and the Labrador play a crucial role in supporting civil protection during rescue operations.
